The states now hold a staggering $42,000,000,00.00 in #unclaimedmoney and #unclaimedproperty, and the amount is now expected to grow even larger as state deficits grow. But, in a descent, Supreme Court Justice Alito warns, “This trend — combining shortened escheat periods with minimal notification procedures — raises important due process concerns.”
